August 20, 2015: our community held a blessing at our Park in anticipation of construction starting tomorrow. Mahalo to Kaleo Paik for this special ceremony and to those who came to share our joy on this momentous occasion, including Jason Paloma from the HMSA Foundation that gave us $10,000, Lyla Berg, Irvin Higashi and Michele Nekota from the City and Ted Taketa from Starcom Builders.

We are expecting to have our new playground by the end of 2014 or 2015.

We still need donations, volunteers, and support! please help

Please sign up to be on Niu Valley Playground’s Project Team! We are being featured for 2 weeks on the KaBOOM! website but need to complete our on-line fundraising process by having Team Captains. Since the City won’t allow us to do a community build, this is to show KaBOOM! our support for this project and possibly get a few donations. Please follow the instructions below. Mahalo!
As you may know, we are in great need of a playground for our community because all kids deserve a place for healthy play and exercise. We are pulling together a planning team and would like to invite you to get involved. Niu Valley Playground really needs someone dependable to head our each of our teams as a Captain, and we immediately thought of you!
To ensure the success of our project we need a variety of skills and talents on our planning committee. You can do everything from plan out activities to involve children in the build process to working with the media to secure press, and of course there is always the need for fundraising support.
Learn more about our project and sign up for your favorite team.
Here are the steps to become a Team Member:
• Step 1: Join KaBOOM!. Use the Sign Up button at the top of every page.
• Step 2: Go to Niu Valley Playground.
• Step 3: Click the Volunteer button.
• Step 4: Select the Join option on the right.
• Step 5: Select the Team you would like to become a part of and then describe why you would be a good fit for that team. If you are interested in more than one team, note that as well. The project’s leader will have the final determination on which team you are assigned to.
Thank you very much for your time, and we hope to hear from you very soon. If you cannot make this commitment, we understand, and appreciate any support you may be able to give!

Hawaii’s leading solar energy firm, RevoluSun, has partnered with the Niu Valley Community Association to raise $100,000 to purchase our playground equipment. As a corporate sponsor, RevoluSun has joined a growing list of organizations that have given or pledged at least $5,000 to support our playground project. Peter Kay, Niu Valley’s Playground Chair, said that “RevoluSun is a perfect example of a company embracing a spirit of giving and community. We hope that more organizations will follow their lead.” Eric Carlson, one of RevoluSun’s principals, added “RevoluSun empowers people to take control of their energy future to build cleaner, smarter communities, so we are proud to be a supporter of empowering the Niu Valley community to make a brighter future for the keiki.”
We’re grateful to RevoluSun for their generous donation of time, money and manpower and the additional commitment to provide a $500 donation per system installed in the month of February to our playground for all residents of Niu Valley. RevoluSun has installed a dozen solar systems in Niu Valley and several of its principals and sales people live here in Niu Valley.
